My Background
My name is Sister Janet. I was born January 9th, 1952 in Phillipsburg, NJ. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Georgian Court College in Lakewood Township, NJ and a Master of Arts degree in Religious Education from Fordham University, NY, I entered the Maryknoll Sisters Congregation on January 5th, 1986 at the Maryknoll Sisters Center, Maryknoll, NY. I pronounced First Vows February 15th, 1987 in NY and Final Vows July 9th, 1995 in the Marshall Islands.
Overview of Mission Work
Sister Janet was then assigned to the Central Pacific Marshall Islands where she ministered to the people of Majuro as a pastoral worker. As a trained spiritual director, she used her talents directing retreats, counseling, and forming prayer groups among the people of Micronesia.
In 2005, she was assigned to Nepal, where, once again, she engaged in educational and retreat-formation work.
Returning to NY in 2009, Sister Janet took on a new role with the Maryknoll Sisters. As part of our Vocation Ministry, Sister Janet connected with the young people who would make up the next generation of Maryknoll Sisters..
In 2014, as her role in the Vocation Ministry ended, Sister Janet was available to serve other mission interests, including ministry in Haiti and Chicago.
Current Mission
Sister Janet is presently serving at the Maryknoll Sisters Center, Maryknoll, NY as Coordinator of the Sisters residing in the assisted living unit.
